One Year!

Today (February 21st) marks the one year anniversary of when I published my first blog post!

Prior to this day, the most I had ever shared with family and friends was the occasional health update briefly explaining new FOP flare-ups. I’d ask for thoughts and prayers without going into much detail on how my disease was actually affecting my body and spirit. I kept it light, not wanting to feel too vulnerable.

I knew that creating this blog was something I needed to do for myself but it was intimidating to write something so personal. I delayed the initial debut because I didn’t have a clear sense of what I wanted to say (especially on this new, public platform) and was beginning to feel overwhelmed.

I eventually gathered enough courage (randomly, of course, after mulling over the first post for months) to click “publish” and ended up receiving such an outpouring of love and support. Being completely honest and truthful about some of the most challenging parts of this disease – chronic pain, flare-ups, fears and insecurities – and not just the positive things and better days has been very empowering for me. I’m excited to see what this next year of blogging brings!

If you happen to know anyone (especially in the medical field) who may be interested in learning about FOP, please feel free to share this blog with them! ->

Thank you all! ❤️
